Since Nancy recommended we should see Bryce at sunrise, we woke up at 5:45 to catch the sunrise at 6:30. We were exhasuted, but the sunrise was pretty spectacular. Right after the sun rose, we went back to our hotel and fell back asleep.
Annie noticed that there was a free four-hour guided bus tour of Bryce Canyon, so we hopped on the bus and relaxed as our driver Spike narrated the tour from one spectacular viewpoint to the next. He peppered his talk with plenty of corny jokes... "Why don't Ravens ever get run over while eating road kill?... Because they always have a friend by the side of the road ready to call 'Caw, Caw'." Bryce canyon is an 18 mile long canyon of beautiful pink rock formations. They obviously modeled the canyon after Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland!
After our tour, we walked around in the little town of Bryce. Next, we headed further down the road to the Kodachrome basin where we hiked to some of the local sights. This was a very quiet park with wild sandstone stuctures and arches with a view of the Bryce Canyon walls in the distance. Next stop, North Rim of the Grand Canyon. We drove for a few hours and then spent the night in the sleepy little town of Kanab. Kanab is home of the Stampin' Up factory. We plan on dropping in to see if we can get a tour.
Since I was wearing my last pair of clean clothes, I spent the evening at the local laundromat while Annie worked on her Stampin' Up card exchanges for the convention we are heading to in Salt Lake City.
